100 Word Story Competition

So, today I decided to enter another competition that is being hosted by Reader’s Digest. This one was more in my element where I had to submit a story that was exactly 100 words on a theme or topic of my choice.

The competition itself has three different categories; an adult category, 12-18s category and under 12s category. You can submit as many entries as you wish, which I found to be a good way to get a writer’s creativity flowing. I have only submitted one entry myself at the moment. I may submit another one in the coming weeks if I feel up to it.

To submit an entry is quite straight forward and the form can be found on their website on the following link: 100 word story competition

After you enter your name and DOB, it will take you to the next page where it asks for your email address, and provides a text box to write or paste your entry. I found it easier to write your story in a word document then copy and paste it into the text box. After you are happy, just agree to the terms and conditions and click submit and that’s you entered.

You will then receive and email like the one below with confirmation that they have received your entry.

All entries must be in by by February 20. The editorial team will then pick a shortlist of three in each category and post them online on 6th March.

After their select three have been chosen, you can vote for your favourite, and the one with the most votes will win the top prize. The voting closes 8pm on March 20 and winning entries will be announced 30th March and published in their June issue.

The competition itself is open to residents who only live in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Republic of Ireland. However, there are similar competitions on Reader’s digest.com & Reader’s Digest.ca etc.

I wish everyone the best of luck should they decide to enter.
